Going All In:
Fashion and Performance in Las Vegas

Stage lights reflect off rhinestones. Feathers escape from a boa to float through applause-filled air.  Worn leather and well-loved jeans. Heavy brims ward off the sun as parade-goers cheer from the sidewalk.  The glitz and the glamor. The rough and tumble. Two sides of the same coin. 

From showgirls to senators and construction tycoons to casino workers, all types inhabit our valley.  We live in a wildly diverse city, and this exhibition considers our history and culture  through one thing that unites us all: fashion. 

Going All In explores the intersections between fashion and performance in the Vegas Valley.  The 30 pieces presented include Helldorado costumes, Parisian couture, and the gowns of local grand dames, purchased in our homegrown boutiques. The garments celebrate the communities of our city.

This is a collaboration between the H. 302 Fashion as History course, Reid Public History Institute at UNLV and the Clark County Museum. The exhibition pulls from a range of institutions and private collectors to explore the fascinating and intertwined histories of entertainment and fashion in this world famous city.
